Goals:
The goal of this presentation is to advance the nurse's knowledge of influential figures and events in history as well as trace changes in nursing practice that affected the professional development of nursing.
Bedside is a theatrical, interactive presentation where the audience assumes the role of nursing students that follow three bedside staff nurses throughout a shift. These characters, through storytelling and song educate the audience about significant events and figures in history that shaped the development of the nursing profession and current practices.
Objectives:
After viewing this presentation, you will be able to :
1. Name three historic figures that contributed to the professional development of nursing.
2. Trace societal influences and professional events that shaped past and present professional behavior and image of nurses.
3. Articulate the positive effects that the practice of the Nursing Arts, such as backrub have upon patient care.
